The third installment of our introduction to lucky spots is Gotokuji Temple (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo), the birthplace of MANEKINEKO (beckoning cat). ⠀
The origin of MANEKINEKO is based on the following story. ⠀
One day, Ii Naotaka, the second lord of the Omi Hikone (current Shiga Prefecture ）stopped by the temple and saw a cat fostered by the temple.
He entered there since the cat gestured with its hand to come this way at the gate.
Then, suddenly, a big thunderstorm came, and he was able to avoid the storm, which led him to donate a large sum of money to the temple in return. ⠀
I also had a strange dream for the first time this year after visiting this temple.
For Japanese people, the first dream has a spiritual meaning. ⠀
In the dream I met my cat Daikichi, who passed away in 2021. He was napping in the back seat of the car I was driving.
I stroked Daikichi’s back as he slept, saying, “Welcome home.” It had been a while since I could feel his fluffy fur on my palm. The feeling still remains in my hand. ⠀
The dream was so real that I even thought in my dream that if I reported the fact that Daikichi had returned, all my friends would be surprised. ⠀
After I woke up, I was so moved to see Daikichi again that I felt very refreshed for a while.
Thanks to this dream, I became confident that I could meet Daikichi anytime. ⠀
開運招福スポットのご紹介の第3回目は、招き猫発祥の地、豪徳寺（東京都世田谷区）です。 ⠀
豪徳寺の招き猫の由来は、次の話がもとになっています。 ⠀
ある日、近江彦根2代藩主・井伊直孝がこの近くに立ち寄ったところ、豪徳寺で飼われていた猫が門前で手招きしたので、豪徳寺に入ってみました。
すると、突然、雷雨がやってきて彼は難を逃れることが出来ました。
彼がそのお礼にとこのお寺に寄進するようになったというエピソードです。 ⠀
かくいう私も、豪徳寺参拝後に不思議な初夢をみました。 ⠀
夢の中で私は2021年に亡くなった愛猫だいきちと出会いました。私の運転する車の後部座席でお昼寝していました。
私は「おかえり」と言いながら寝ているだいきちの背中を撫でました。久々のもふもふした毛の感触を手のひらに感じることができました。今でもその感触が手に残っています。 ⠀
その夢はあまりにリアルすぎて、もしだいきちが戻ってきた事実を報告したらお友達がみんなびっくりするだろうな、とまで夢の中で考えていました。 ⠀
目が覚めた後もしばらく、だいきちと再会できた感動で、とても清々しい気分に浸っていました。
この夢のおかげで、だいきちとはいつでも会えるんだという確信が持てるようになりました。 ⠀
ちなみに招き猫は「招福猫児」と書きます。
